25/26 League Cup Finals Weekend at Cheltenham Town FC

As the league seasons come to an end for our FC Lakeside teams, we can reflect on a fantastic year of football across age groups from U5s to U17s and our Men’s team. Still lots of tournaments and fun sessions to come in the Summer months!

The 2025/26 at FC Lakeside will be different for all of our members but we like to think that results on the pitch don’t necessarily determine the success of a season and that fun, friendships and memories as well as challenges faced give players enough to want to come back next season and do it all again!

With our mixed youth teams entering the CYFL League Cups each season, hundreds of teams compete to get to the May finals at Cheltenham Town FC. We are delighted that another 3 FC Lakeside teams will enjoy a match day experience at Whaddon Road – U10 Whites, U12 Whites & U13 Whites all making it to their finals. Our U15 Reds, U9 Blues and U11 Whites came very close with extremely competitive semi-finals.

We would love to see FC Lakeside supporters at Cheltenham Town FC for the Finals, cheering on our teams.

FC Lakeside Youth Chairman, Liam Jones, is delighted with the way in which teams at FC Lakeside have enjoyed competing this season…

“I couldn’t be prouder of the FC Lakeside volunteers, parents and players this season. Watching the children play, listening to feedback and about moments our players and coaches have really enjoyed, whether a Cup Semi-Final win, a player’s first goal of the season, a crucial penalty save or team tour or social, it’s really energising and what I feel keeps our volunteers going!

I’m looking forward to attending the games at Cheltenham Town FC on the weekend of 9/10th May to watch our teams. What I think is important for me is that the FC Lakeside teams have got there by winning a few knockout games whilst adopting our game time standards really well and building confidence of players in the squad, most of whom have been there since U5,6,7,8 ages, as best they can. If you were to look at a number of the players in these finals, many of them weren’t the ‘star’ players at the earliest ages but have grown, as children do when supported and trusted, to be real competitors. I think there’s a great lesson for all of us adults involved in the game here!”
