Dear all

The FC Lakeside Committee has recently received notification from our current Club Treasurer, Steve Barlow that he will be resigning from his current post at the AGM this Summer. As a Committee we are saddened by Steve’s decision but understand and respect his reasons. Steve has been a huge part of FC Lakeside over the last few years, not only as club treasurer but also as a Coach.

Steve took on the Treasurers role 4 years ago and has truly done an amazing job. He has transformed the way we manage our finances from previous years with the full support of the Managers and Coaches within the Club. He has managed not only the Youth Section finances but in addition picked up the responsibility of managing the Men’s Teams. His hard work and commitment in helping both the Youth and Adult Managers is testament to his character and passion in supporting Football at grass roots level. The Committee would like to thank Steve for his continued dedication and wish him and his family all the very best. We look forward to welcoming Steve back to our games and events in the future.

We now begin the process of recruiting for a new Treasurer to continue the great work and legacy that Steve will be leaving. We assure any candidates that the system and processes are all in place and a seamless transition with the support of Steve and the Committee will assist the new person to get up to speed quickly. The Treasurer will sit on the Club Committee, will be named on the Club Constitution and will play an active part in the running of the Football Club. We have exciting times ahead at FC Lakeside and we are especially delighted to have received verbal notification of our successful bid of Cold Pool Lane. We continue to provide the local community with an outstanding facility to play and participate in football and will endeavor to maintain the extremely high standards that have been set by the Club over recent years.

This is an exciting role and we welcome interest from anyone who would like to put themselves forward for the position. We will be holding meetings over the coming weeks with interested candidates with the intention to appoint the new Treasurer ASAP. If you are interested please contact club Chairman Rob Griffiths on rob.fclakeside@live.co.uk.

Thanks again to Steve for all the work you have done and we look forward to receiving applications!

Many Thanks

FC Lakeside Committee.

It is with deep sadness to hear about the passing of Roger Hatherway.
I’m sure all connected with FC Lakeside both past and present, will join us in sending our kindest thoughts and condolences to Rogers family.
Roger was our club secretary for 15 or more years, throughout the 1980’s and 90’s.
His passion for FC Lakeside and professionalism in his role, laid the strong foundations for where we are today.
Roger was the back bone of FC Lakeside and along with others, Roger continued to develop our family club and philosophy that has grown over the years.
He was part of the original team of officials who started our great friendship with Dutch Club, VV Oude Maas, which is now as strong as ever after 35 years.
As I am writing this, it makes me realise the extent of the legacy Roger has left with FC Lakeside.
As well as his secretarial duties, he coached and managed various teams.
Also Rogers sons played and now his Grandson is also playing for the club.
Roger was very proud to see how his club has continued to develop and only last month at our club tournament, Roger expressed how pleased he was for us winning the tender bid for Cold Pool Lane.
He mentioned how pleased he was to see so many committed coaches and officials carrying on the great name of FC Lakeside in the local football community.
He quietly kept up to speed with all we are doing.
Please feel free to comment to this post and add your memories you may have of Roger.

Rest in peace Mr Roger Hatherway

Sadly missed but never forgotten.

Flowers will be sent on behalf of
FC Lakeside for the funeral.
We will also contribute to a charity of choice-donation, if Rogers family so wish.

Regards to all,
Rob Griffiths
Club Chairman

Official Club Statement

FC Lakeside can now officially reveal probably the best news our club has had in our 42 year history. For the last 3 months, (and a bit longer), your management committee together with some highly professional parents of youth team players, decided to investigate the potential of entering into a Tender process with Tewkesbury Borough Council. The Invitation to Tender was set up for any sports clubs or organisations, to bid for the right to become preferred supplier to TBC and be able to work together to run the new sports facility in Cold Pool Lane, Hatherley.
FC Lakeside are very proud to announce, “we have been successful in our bid”. Subject to contract agreement and legal procedures we now have the opportunity to work closer with The Hatherley community in all areas of sporting activities, not just football.

FC lakeside founded in Hatherley in 1975, are proud to have won this bid and hopefully can now put down some home roots after all these years.
With a 25 lease, (still to agree), we can secure football for FC Lakeside for the next generation.
This is wonderful for our club, however more importantly our community. We are excited at the prospect of local schools, charity groups and other organisations such as local scouts, running clubs, and sports for the disabled community, ALL benefitting from a well structured local facility.
This will be a facility that FC Lakeside, TBC and The Hatherley community will be proud of.
May I congratulate the committed group of people who have worked tirelessly on this Tender process, meeting weekly and putting together an incredible bid.

Over the coming days, weeks and months, further information will be released. Firstly we will call an informative EGM very soon for the FC Lakeside membership. Transparency through membership is key to a successful club and we will respect all views from our members before contractual agreements are finalised. As your Chairman, personally, this is a very proud moment for me and I hope we can move forward for FC Lakeside to continue to develop in all areas.

Thank you all once again, you are all part of a great club, continuing on an historic journey.

Rob Griffiths
FC Lakeside

FC Lakeside are looking to create a new Under 10 Team (Under 10 Reds) for the start of the 2017/18 season. In order to move ahead with the new team we are actively recruiting a Manager/Coach to lead the team. The Manager will be given the full support from the club including investment in the FA Level One Qualification. We are looking to meet anyone who is interested in the coming weeks for a more detailed discussion. Please contact Club Chairman Rob Griffiths on rob.fclakeside@live.co.uk to register your interest.

Local Gloucestershire Business Community Steps up to Support FC Lakeside Christmas Raffle

Our annual Christmas draw will take place this weekend and we are very grateful for everyone that has bought raffle tickets. We have some amazing prizes on offer and we are very thankful for prize donations that have come in from local business. As a community club we are delighted for the support of local sponsors and this year the business world of Gloucestershire has truly delivered. We would like to highlight a few organisations that have stepped up to donate. Thanks and Happy Christmas from all at FC Lakeside x

Dear club member,

I am sure you are aware of recent media coverage of the child abuse issues surrounding football. This is a very sensitive and highly important subject. Please note and be reassured that FC Lakeside continually work very hard to safeguard our children playing football.

As a club member, you will be aware that we hold the FA Charter Standard, which means we must meet FA criteria annually. We must constantly DBS check (disclosure and barring service), managers/coaches and club officials.

FC Lakeside has a child welfare officer within the club structure who holds an official club management role with us.

We wish to bring to your attention the NSPCC contact number which is 0800 0232642

Also please note that the FA have asked for extra vigilance with regards to our safeguarding and our club procedures.

FC Lakeside is confident we do this, however if you have any concerns, please contact the FA through safeguarding@thefa.com
