FC Lakeside U12’s Division 1 winners 2018

On Sunday Lakeside FC won the Under 12 Division 1 Cheltenham Youth League having won an incredible 18 out of 18 home and away matches.
The season finale was a tense affair in the Forest of Dean against Ruardean Hill Rangers who had title ambitions of their own having won 16 of their 17 league games, their only loss to date being away to Lakeside. A win for Ruardean would have resulted in a play-off match to decide the league winners, a win or draw for Lakeside would see them take the title. Lakeside had not conceded more than one goal in a league game all season with the exception of an 18-3 win, so the title was firmly in our sights when we took a deserved lead with 15 minutes on the clock. The team battled hard for each other and saw the game out to chalk up a seventh clean sheet of the season and more importantly a league title. This is a fantastic achievement for the team and a progression from the CYL under 11’s league season from which they also emerged unbeaten, winning both the autumn and winter mini-leagues, in addition to the Cinderford, Abbeymead and Quedgley summer tournaments!!!

Dear all

The FC Lakeside Committee has recently received notification from our current Club Treasurer, Steve Barlow that he will be resigning from his current post at the AGM this Summer. As a Committee we are saddened by Steve’s decision but understand and respect his reasons. Steve has been a huge part of FC Lakeside over the last few years, not only as club treasurer but also as a Coach.

Steve took on the Treasurers role 4 years ago and has truly done an amazing job. He has transformed the way we manage our finances from previous years with the full support of the Managers and Coaches within the Club. He has managed not only the Youth Section finances but in addition picked up the responsibility of managing the Men’s Teams. His hard work and commitment in helping both the Youth and Adult Managers is testament to his character and passion in supporting Football at grass roots level. The Committee would like to thank Steve for his continued dedication and wish him and his family all the very best. We look forward to welcoming Steve back to our games and events in the future.

We now begin the process of recruiting for a new Treasurer to continue the great work and legacy that Steve will be leaving. We assure any candidates that the system and processes are all in place and a seamless transition with the support of Steve and the Committee will assist the new person to get up to speed quickly. The Treasurer will sit on the Club Committee, will be named on the Club Constitution and will play an active part in the running of the Football Club. We have exciting times ahead at FC Lakeside and we are especially delighted to have received verbal notification of our successful bid of Cold Pool Lane. We continue to provide the local community with an outstanding facility to play and participate in football and will endeavor to maintain the extremely high standards that have been set by the Club over recent years.

This is an exciting role and we welcome interest from anyone who would like to put themselves forward for the position. We will be holding meetings over the coming weeks with interested candidates with the intention to appoint the new Treasurer ASAP. If you are interested please contact club Chairman Rob Griffiths on rob.fclakeside@live.co.uk.

Thanks again to Steve for all the work you have done and we look forward to receiving applications!

Many Thanks

FC Lakeside Committee.

It is with deep sadness to hear about the passing of Roger Hatherway.
I’m sure all connected with FC Lakeside both past and present, will join us in sending our kindest thoughts and condolences to Rogers family.
Roger was our club secretary for 15 or more years, throughout the 1980’s and 90’s.
His passion for FC Lakeside and professionalism in his role, laid the strong foundations for where we are today.
Roger was the back bone of FC Lakeside and along with others, Roger continued to develop our family club and philosophy that has grown over the years.
He was part of the original team of officials who started our great friendship with Dutch Club, VV Oude Maas, which is now as strong as ever after 35 years.
As I am writing this, it makes me realise the extent of the legacy Roger has left with FC Lakeside.
As well as his secretarial duties, he coached and managed various teams.
Also Rogers sons played and now his Grandson is also playing for the club.
Roger was very proud to see how his club has continued to develop and only last month at our club tournament, Roger expressed how pleased he was for us winning the tender bid for Cold Pool Lane.
He mentioned how pleased he was to see so many committed coaches and officials carrying on the great name of FC Lakeside in the local football community.
He quietly kept up to speed with all we are doing.
Please feel free to comment to this post and add your memories you may have of Roger.

Rest in peace Mr Roger Hatherway

Sadly missed but never forgotten.

Flowers will be sent on behalf of
FC Lakeside for the funeral.
We will also contribute to a charity of choice-donation, if Rogers family so wish.

Regards to all,
Rob Griffiths
Club Chairman

Hi all just a reminder that the club is hosting an EGM tonight at The Pavilion, Hatherley Lane at 7:30pm. The meeting is to discuss next steps in regards to The Cold Pool Lane facility. Great News for the Future

Dear Membership,

Many, if not all of you will be aware of your our clubs recent good news. FC Lakeside has taken part in an Invitation to Tender (ITT) process with Tewkesbury Borough Council (TBC). The Tender was for the bid to become preferred supplier to TBC for the new community sports facility in Cold Pool Lane, Up Hatherley.

I am proud to confirm as your Chairman, that after months of meetings and hard work from a select group of committed individuals from within your club, we have been successful and have been awarded with the bid and in turn, we have become TBC preferred supplier for the CPL site.

We feel, having completed Stage One, we now move to the next level of this project. Legal advice is now needed and a lease has to be agreed, before a 25 year contract can be signed by FC Lakeside. You can rest assured no stone has been left unturned and a full business plan, asset management, and finance report, amongst other articles, including building partnerships within the local community, have been part of the TBC ITT. This project is both exciting for FC Lakeside and achievable to safeguard your clubs future for at least the next 25 years.

We now move to Stage Two. Your club feels at this point of continued transparency, we need to call an Extraordinary General Meeting. The EGM will be both informative and decisive in terms of moving forward with the permission of your club membership. Therefore the FC Lakeside EGM will take place on Tuesday 2nd May at The Pavilion, Hatherley Lane, Up Hatherley, 7:30pm start on time.

You are very welcome to attend and listen and ask questions, following a further report given on the procedure so far. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on the 2nd May, please can you bring your membership cards with you.

Rob Griffiths, Chairman
